My Approach to Counseling

My approach is to work with the individual on what matters most to them. As we work toward the primary goal, symptoms and concerns are treated as obstacles toward obtaining what is truly important. The focus is on wellness, not the illness. I will help you find your own path toward wellness through a variety of evidenced based methods and interventions.

Services usually start with me as a free consultation. Then, if treatment and/or coaching looks like an option that you would like to explore we will then schedule a more comprehensive assessment and treatment planning session to develop your individual “Life Change Plan”. From there we may begin a series of coaching or therapy sessions to work on habits and skills to help you live the life you want.

While yoga is a mainstay and foundation for my life, my business practice is not limited to this nor do I discuss yoga with every client.  My services are developed for the individual with that particular person determining their own path to wellness with me as a guide and mentor.  If a person is interested in yoga, then this will be considered in mapping out the course of counseling/coaching.  Also, while I am licensed to diagnose and will give a diagnosis during my initial assessment if appropriate, I do not apply a set formula to every individual.  While evidenced based modalities in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are utilized, I use the diagnosis as one part of the many aspects of a person’s situation to help us determine that individual’s course to wellness.
